Eight Fun Games for Your Halloween Party

Who says Halloween is just for kids? If you’re hosting a Halloween party, you’re going to need some fun at home adult party games to play.

Bobbing for apples is fun and all, but why not get a little more creative? The great news is you really don’t need to spend much for fun, memorable games your guests will love.

Of course, adult party games doesn’t mean kids can’t join in on the fun. Family-friendly Halloween games make the party perfect for all ages.

1. The Ongoing Scary Story

You can’t have a Halloween party with some scary stories. But, where you can find stories everyone hasn’t heard a dozen times before? Easy, you create your own. Gather everyone around and each person has two minutes to tell a portion of the story. You can also have slips of paper in a bowl with various prompts to get people started.

As an alternative, each person draws a prompt and tells a short story. Everyone votes on the scariest and funniest and the winners get a bag of candy.

2. Host A Mystery Game

Remember playing the classic board game Clue? You can do something similar. It does take a little time to get everything set up, but set up a whodunit mystery for your guests to solve. If you want to get in on the fun and play too, give every guest a random envelope with the part they’ll play. Then, no one knows who the bad guy is except that person.

You can also buy mystery party games to make this easier, especially if you’re busy getting decorations up and food prepped.

3. The Name Game

Could you guess who you are just by a few clues? This is an incredibly fun at home adult party game for your Halloween party. Label index cards with various monsters and Halloween-themed items. Then, place the cards face down in a deck on the table. Have your guests draw a card and hold in front of them (where they can’t see what’s on it). They then have to guess what it says based on clues from others. Work together in teams to see who wins.

4. Halloween Charades

Much like normal charades, you have slips of paper with various items, people, movies, etc. Except in this case, you’ll have Halloween-themed items. To ensure you don’t know all the answers, have multiple people adding items to the bowl. This is perfect for all ages as kids love to act things out.

5. Haunted Scavenger Hunt

Scavenger hunts are always popular. You can get as creative as you want too. If younger children are playing, consider making it a bit easier for them. Divide into teams or let everyone go solo. It’s a race to the finish as your guests scramble to find everything on their list first.

6. Halloween-Themed Escape Room

An escape room might sound like something you couldn’t do at home, but it’s actually a fun party game your guests will love. You’ll need to do some major prep work for this one, so you’ll want to start planning at least a few weeks ahead of time. To get inspiration, consider doing a few escape rooms in your area. Guests can go in a set room in teams or use multiple rooms for a bigger experience.

7. Toilet Paper Dress Up

If you’re not hosting a costume party, play toilet paper dress up instead. All you’ll need is plenty of toilet paper to go around. The cheapest stuff you can find works well for this game. Ask everyone to break off into small teams. Then, draw out a Halloween character and have them use the toilet paper to dress up one person in their team. While mummy is popular option, you can use other characters as well, such as a witch or vampire.

8. Halloween Trivia

Who doesn’t love playing trivia games? One of the easiest adult Halloween party games you can play is Halloween trivia. Index cards work well for this. To make it more fun for everyone, have kids write down the questions/answers for the adult version of the game and have a few adults write out the questions/answers for the kids. If you need some help with coming up with trivia questions, use some of the following resources:
